High quality Nikon bayonet lens hood designed specifically for use with the AF-S DX VR Zoom NIKKOR 55-200 mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED and AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85 mm f/3.5G ED VR lenses.
This lens hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact and moisture.
