Simply remove the straw from its individual wrapper and place it through the pre-made hole in the lid. There is a little space around the straw so that liquid won't spew out of the straw when the lid is placed on the cup. While not completely leak-proof, the tight fit of the straw into the lid stops a minor topple from turning into a huge mess!
