Brigid is a Celtic Goddess, later Christianized as Saint Brigid.  Often viewed as threefold, she is the patroness of healing, poetry and metal-smithing. Her symbol, Brigid's Cross, is woven from rushes (flowering, grass-like plants) and is traditionally hung in doorways and windows as a protective blessing.
