Actual transfer speed depends on SSD speed, USB port type, computer performance, NVMe media used, etc. Thunderbolt 4 port speed>Thunderbolt 3 port speed>USB4 port speed.
To achieve the 40Gbps speed, please use Thunderbolt3/4 or USB4 interface to connect the computer. It is backward compatible with USB3.2 Gen1, USB3.1 Gen1 and is limited by the bandwidth of these interfaces with speeds of 10Gbps and 5Gbps respectively. Not compatible with USB3.2 Gen2x2. If you want to connect to a mobile phone, please use other common 10Gbps or 5Gbps data cables to connect.
2. If your SSD is a brand new SSD:
Please format and partition the SSD in Disk Management before using it for the first time. For SSD, it is recommended to use exFAT format, which is compatible with Windows and Mac OS systems.
