Special Features

  • ESSENTIAL NUTRIENT FOR A HEALTHY BRAIN - Phenylalanine is a vital amino acid that is crucial to cognitive performance and overall well-being. The liver converts it to L-tyrosine, which your nervous system then uses to make important neurotransmitters and hormones, including dopamine, norepinephrine and adrenaline (epinephrine).
  • MOOD & BRAIN HEALTH - Studies show that supplementing with phenylalanine encourages healthy neurotransmitter production and brings a wide range of cognitive health benefits. That's because the body uses phenylalanine to make neurotransmitters that regulate mood, memory and focus, promoting a healthy mood and overall cognitive performance.
  • NOURISHING PROTECTION FOR YOUR BRAIN CELLS - Research shows that phenylalanine supplementation also helps protect your delicate brain cells (neurons). That's because your body uses it to produce norepinephrine, which in addition to acting like a chemical messenger, this neurotransmitter also promotes a healthy inflammatory response, protects neurons from oxidative stress caused by free radicals, and encourages healthy brain cell growth and connectivity.
  • INGREDIENTS MATTER - Sourced using only the finest raw ingredients with the purity and potency your body deserves. The majority of our products are non-GMO, gluten-free and manufactured in the USA—and a Certificate of Analysis is available for every product we produce.
  • LIVE YOUR HEALTHIEST LIFE - For over 40 years, we've been developing advanced, effective formulas made with the highest standards and based on the latest scientific findings. We believe the answers to a healthier, richer life are within reach, and that rigorous scientific research is the path to get us there. Our formulations are created using the ingredients and dosages used in the studies that inspired them, ensuring that maximum bioavailability and efficacy is achieved.

Description

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid that can be converted to L-tyrosine in the liver. Tyrosine is used in the nervous system to make a class of neurotransmitters called catecholamines: dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. Epinephrine, made from tyrosine in the adrenal medulla, functions as a neurohormone and is known as adrenaline. In addition to acting as a neurotransmitter that supports healthy mood and sleep, norepinephrine is now known to protect brain cells by promoting a healthy inflammatory response, inhibiting oxidative stress and supporting healthy neuronal growth and connectivity. Dopamine, though long associated with more primal aspects of brain function linking behaviors to rewards, is recognized now as a mediator of higher-order cognitive capacities. The diminishment in brain catecholamine production that occurs with aging may be a contributing factor in normal age-related cognitive decline. Providing catecholamine precursors can help support healthy cognitive function. The enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of tyrosine to dopamine may work more efficiently if its co-factors (vitamins B6 and C) are included. Phenylalanine supplementation supports healthy neurotransmitter synthesis and clinical trials suggest it may promote positive moods. Since both norepinephrine and epinephrine can cause smooth muscle (arterial) contraction, care with blood pressure should be taken when supplementing with phenylalanine. D,L-phenylalanine is a 50/50 mixture of its two stereoisomers.
