The most important innovations introduced with the T-34 were the inclined front armour, which could provide better protection against hits and the use of wide chains that was ideal for good mobility on all terrain. The first T-34, armed with a short-running 76 mm cannon, immediately won an advantage over the most common German tanks such as the Tank III and the Tank IV. Thanks to its 500 HP 12-cylinder diesel engine, it has been able to reach a top speed of 55 km/h. Because of its excellent functionality, it is considered by many historians as the best tank of the Second World War.
