The Kurganets is a new-generation Russian armored personnel carrier. It is a clean sheet design, not based on any previous Russian armored vehicle. Many drawbacks typical to most Russian armored vehicles, such as a cramped crew compartment and cramped exit, were fixed. It is believed that its development commenced in 2011 and it was first publicly revealed in 2015 with a handful of pre-production vehicles built. It is planned that a whole family of vehicles will be based on the same Kurganets chassis. The APC variant is armed with a Bumerang-BM remote control turret carrying a 30mm Autocannon, 7.62mm coaxial Machine Gun and four Kornet-EM Anti-Tank Guided Missiles.
