Special Features

  • Four ounces of fine sawdust made from the heartwood of the Red Sandalwood tree (pterocarpus santalinus).
  • Gives deep brick reds and pleasant terracotta shades on wool, silk, and cotton.
  • A substantive dye that does not require a mordant on wool and silk.
  • One four-once jar will dye a quarter pound of fiber to a rich brick red, or up to a pound of fiber to softer peach and terracotta colors.
  • Sustainably harvested from non-endangered tree populations in Andhra Pradesh.
  • NOTE: For best results, Red Sandalwood requires an extraction using grain spirits rather than hot water.
