Description

This chisel is made by a small tool manufacturer in the Czech Republic and is of exceptional quality. The blade is made from fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel and hardened to Rc 59. The blade takes and holds an excellent edge. The blade is accurately ground. As with all edge tools, it will require some sharpening before use. This chisel is excellent value for a good quality tool. This is a single 10 mm (3/8") corner chisel. The bevels are ground at a 25 degree bevel. Blade is 4 3/4" long. Handles is stained European Hornbeam and is 5 1/2” long and 1 3/8" in diameter. Overall length is 10 1/14". The blade has a well-seated heavy steel tang and the handle has a brass ferrules to withstand vigorous mallet work. It does not come in any retail packaging. In the August 2008 issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine, the Narex chisels earned Author's Choice for “Best Value” in the western style bench chisel category. FWW considered a number of criteria when determining the top performing chisels, including dovetailing, paring, chopping, durability tests, out of the box condition, tool ergonomics and edge retention properties.
