What are gem dice?
Usually we think that the dice made by cutting, grinding and engraving numbers from natural gemstones are called gemstone dice.
Some dice made of special glass and synthetic gemstones are also reluctantly considered gemstone dice.
(Synthetic gemstones are artificial substitutes for some natural gemstones due to their high price, too small particles, unique chemical properties, etc.)

What are the Pros and Cons of gem dice?
Pros: They are made of gemstones, have some collectible value, some dice have optical effects, every face distinct from the next, featuring the natural striations, layers, and even trapped detritus that characterizes each stone.
Cons: They don't have the springiness of acrylic dice, nor the heaviness of metal dice. They need to be treated more carefully especially D4.
