This windshield clear sensor gel pad will replace the original clear Sensor Gel Pad located in the housing between the sensor and windshield glass. Generally, this Sensor Gel Pad is required to make the wiper blades to go on automatically when it rains. If the vehicle's windshield was replaced recently and the Sensor Gel Pad between the sensor and windshield was not replaced, or the original Sensor Gel Pad dried-up, it will require replacement with a new Sensor Gel Pad, otherwise the Rain Sensor System will not function properly or not function at all. We recommend to check if there is an existing gel sensor pad between the sensor housing and the windshield, or checking the condition of the original rain Sensor Gel pad, before going and replacing the complete Rain Sensor System housing, which would be an expensive and costly project to begin with.
