This 500W car heater is hook up to the battery. If your battery is in the back cargo area and the wires are too short, may be you can use another wire to connect. Red goes to positive power and black to negative. Please do not plug into cigarette lighter. (Because there are some trucks, have cigarette lighter with limited flow device. Therefore, the heater will be automatically cut off during use to protect the car circuit). But this 500W car heater is hook up to the battery and no long worry about the car heater be cut off. If the current is small, the power will not reach the peak power. So you need to change the battery above 45AH. The larger the AH, the greater the power. When the battery is fully charged, it can reach the peak. Please check your car battery is 12V or 24V. We have 12V 500W car heater and 24V 500W car heater to choose.
