A good spring keeps the throttle from being stuck in the full open mode, a very dangerous state of affairs to be sure. To stay safe, you should check the spring occasionally, and replace any damaged, rusty, or broken spring. In addition, this helical spring helps the engine run smoother with less unnecessary revving and jerky motion.
