Installing the new chip and setting the calculator to NEC 2020 will ensure it is fully compliant to the new 2023 code. Installing the 2023 NEC Update Kit requires five basic steps and only takes a few seconds. First you need to remove the battery. Then you remove the old chip. Slide in the new 2020 chip. Reinstall the battery. Then turn on the calculator and select the NEC 2023 setting and you will be ready to access the 2023 code. All functions including prior code years (1996, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014 and 2017, 2020) are retained through the update procedure.
