TotalBoat Pigment Dispersions for epoxy, polyester resin, and gelcoat make it easy to get just the right color for your next project. Whether you're trying to match the existing gelcoat color on your boat, or creating a custom color for the epoxy river in your river table. Also ideal for putting pops of color in your epoxy wall art, coasters, jewelry, tumblers, and more. Color-saturated, colorfast pigments have a thin-paste consistency like mayo that makes it easy to blend them into epoxy resin, polyester resin, and gelcoat products.
There are just a few things to know about mixing these versatile pigments into epoxy or polyester resins. When mixing pigment dispersions into epoxy, combine the resin and hardener first, stir thoroughly, then add pigment dispersion (up to 10%). Just remember - a little goes a long way! When mixing pigment dispersions into polyester resin and polyester gelcoat, add pigment dispersions and mix thoroughly into the polyester resin or gelcoat BEFORE you add the MEKP catalyst, because adding the catalyst kicks off the curing process. This is especially important when you're trying to color-match gelcoat, so the gelcoat stays uncatalyzed while you're trying to get the right color match. When you get the color you want, just mix in the catalyst and apply the gelcoat. When trying to match a gelcoat color, keep in mind that mixing coloring agents into neutral gelcoat creates darker, bolder colors and white gelcoat produces lighter, more pastel colors. Up to 10% TotalBoat Pigment Dispersion can be added to TotalBoat Gelcoat products (up to 12% for red, yellow, and orange).
Pigment dispersions are stable for 12 months from date of production, when stored in their original containers, away from sunlight, at no more than 77°F. All TotalBoat products provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.
