Zi Su Zi, Perilla (Perilla Frutescens) is an herbaceous plant, can reach 1 m in height. Perilla has straight ascending tetrahedral stems. The upper leaves are sessile or short-hulled, oblong-ovate in shape; the lower leaves are long-hulled, ovoid in shape. The flowers of Perilla are axillary, collected in panicles or brushes, and are located on short, hairy pedicels. The fruit of Perilla breaks up into 4 nuts. These nuts are bare, rounded, have net-like surface.
