A truly unique bottle opener that easily opens beers but also makes a great conversation piece. We source the barrels from Distilleries and Breweries, then take them to our shop in Houston, Texas. The rustic oak barrel stave shows the wear and character it got from spending years in the Rick House aging whiskey or bourbon. Some of these barrels have even been used to age beer after they have aged whiskey. The bottom of the bottle opener is a portion of the barrel stave called the "chime." The crook in this piece was used to hold down the whiskey barrel head(lid.) You will notice dark stains running down both sides of the bottle opener. These lines are called the Devil's Share, created by the whiskey seeping in and out of the wood through out the different seasons as it ages. On the bottom of the bottle opener you can see the dark char of the stave. Whiskey barrels are all charred, which allows distillers to get different flavors like vanilla, caramel, and toffee out of the wood. The top side of the opener will have a rough appearance and some dark portions which came from the metal hoop that holds the barrels together. Also we proudly laser etch our Southern Drinking Club logo into the oak. For the bottle opener portion we use a solid chrome piece that makes it easy to pop a top on your favorite beer, while looking good. So grab your favorite bottle and pop that top and toast to Good People, and Good Times!
