5 Mil Kapton Tapes are made from Kapton HN film with silicone adhesive. They have been used in applications at temperatures as low as -452 degrees F and as high as 500 degrees F. DuPont Kapton polyimide films have set the industry standard for over 45 years in high performance, reliability, and durability, with a unique combination of electrical, thermal, chemical and mechanical properties that withstand extreme temperature, vibration and other demanding environments. Kapton polyimide films make innovative design solutions possible in a range of industries including, consumer electronics, solar photovoltaic and wind energy, aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. 5 Mil Kapton Tapes have a high tear strength and dielectric constant. Silicone adhesive protection leaves no residue. Applicable for wave soldering during circuit board assembly, insulating circuit boards, high temperature powder coating, fiber optics cable, automotive sensor and manifolds, semiconductor manufacturing and etching, protection of circuit board gold finger contacts during wave solder, insulation on transformers, motors and coils, and solar panels. Removes cleanly without adhesive residue after exposure to heat. High performance silicone adhesive. High strength backing provides superior resistance to puncture and tear. Resistance to chemical attack. Available in amber color. Adhesion type: Silicone. Film thickness: 5 mil. Adhesive thickness: 1.5 mil. Total thickness: 6.5 mil. Elongation: greater than 50 percent.
