Description
This lovely ceramic bull is known as “Toritos de Pucará”. It is made of clay, and handpainted by artisans of the Peruvian Andes. They are placed on the roof for good luck, bring prosperity, fertility (of crops and livestock), protect and strengthen the families. They are typically given as presents and pretty much every houses you see in southern Peru has one of the decorations on its roof. They originated from Puno, a mountainous region in southeastern Peru. This handcraft is an expression of Peruvian cultural heritage, as well as the Tiahuanaco and Inca cultures.
