In general, the umbrella will soften and broaden the light output of any strobe or lower wattage constant light. This model features a reflective silver interior that amplifies your light and creates hard light, revealing structure and detail in your subjects. The umbrella also has a black backing to minimize light loss and light spill while maximizing output. Silver umbrellas add specular highlights - a little bit more 'snap' than a white umbrella. Silver umbrellas also add ½-1 f/stop of light output, depending on the light source used. Most studio lights include a built-in umbrella receptacle for instant mounting. There are also a variety of mounting brackets available for speedlights with adjustable and tiltable options for precise positioning. Additional control can be achieved by fine-tuning the 'focus' of the beam by varying the flash head's position along the umbrella's shaft.
