In some cases, the GM 10SI and 12SI alternators backfeed through the regulator excitation wire, thus not allowing the engine to be shutoff with the ignition switch. This diode, heat shrink and buttsplice kit allows you to stop the backfeeding by installing it inline on the Ignition Switched wire going to the regulators pin #1.
