This gauge pod will add some spice to your Vanagon dashboard and depending on what gauges you chose, it will give you vital information about your engine performance and temperatures. Here are some ideas of gauges you can install in your van:
Engine Oil temperature
Coolant temperature

Battery Voltage
Fuel Gauge
Our gauge pod drops right into place and replaces the old and now obsolete ash tray. There's no better sound than a perfectly designed piece clicking into place and like all our other products this has been thoroughly tested and designed with purpose so that you are 100% satisfied with your purchase. This product works with both the early metal dashboards (82-85) or the padded dashboards (85-91).
This product is meant to be used with 2 1/16th" (52mm) gauges which are not included with your purchase.
Installation Instructions:
Remove the stock Vanagon ash tray by opening and pulling up by holding the inside of the ash tray.
Install your 2- 1/16” (52mm) gauges into the pod. These should fit fairly snug to prevent them from turning or rattling around in the van. If for some reason you notice they are not snug, we like to add zip-ties to the threads and push the zip-tie as far forward inside the gauge pod as possible. This will also help prevent the gauges from turning or rattling in the gauge pod.
The gauge pod clicks in on the early style dashboards and press fits on padded dashboards. For early metal dashboards – insert the front of the gauge pod in first and push the back of the gauge pod down to lock it in place.
For padded dashboards - follow the same procedure. Place the front of the gauge pod in first and then push down on the back to secure it to the dashboard.
If you need to remove the gauge pod, you can do so by sliding the gauge pod towards the front of the van (away from you) and lifting or pulling the front of the gauge pod up towards the windshield.
