Special Features

  • [INTRODUCE] Even in 2WD, turning front wheels make the front axle spin, which can generate extra load on the engine and extra wear on the front differential. Hub locks allow the wheels to be disengaged from the axle when not using 4WD, letting them rotate freely. This saves fuel, extends the lifespan of drivetrain components and offers a smoother ride.
  • [FUNCTION] The 4WD actuator controls the power transmitted from the axle assembly to the front wheels. As long as the transfer case remains in the four-wheel drive state, the hub will remain in the locked position. When the driver switches to two-wheel drive, the clutch mechanism in the hub slides out and releases the hub, allowing the wheels to rotate independently of the axle.
  • [ADVANTAGE] The main advantage of being able to disengage the front wheels on the go is that the driver doesn't have to stop, get out of his vehicle and twist a dial on the hub to disengage or engage the front wheels. The automatic locking hub does it automatically on the fly. The locking mechanism inside an automatic locking hub is sort of like a one-way clutch. When torque is applied by the driveshaft, it forces the hub to slide in and lock.
