They say history doesn't repeat itself; we beg to differ. Just like the original circa 1963, the Silvertone 1478 offers a unique sound and playing experience that will inspire you to express yourself the same way as the rock icons that played the originals did... but we did see it fit to make a few minor changes.

Why the Silvertone 1478?The offset double cutaway body is made of solid Mahogany with a maple top, for a deep rich tone with top end bite. The genuine Bigsby® tremolo and adjustable steel bridge mean faultless intonation and better string attack - an improvement over the rosewood bridge and antiquated tremolo system on the original. Two single coil pickups deliver full sounding open chords, as well as snarling lead tones reminiscent the great players that set the standard decades ago. We also paid special attention to the neck profile (we thought it best to actually give it a profile versus a table leg!), improving it with a modern C-shape, as well as coupling it to the body with a better engineered neck joint system, for better sustain. The individual machine heads are another improvement over the original - the results which both you and your audience will appreciate. How is this reissue different from the original 1478?The offset double cutaway body is made of solid Mahogany with a maple top, for a deep rich tone with top end bite. The genuine Bigsby® tremolo and adjustable steel bridge mean faultless intonation and better string attack - an improvement over the rosewood bridge and antiquated tremolo system on the original. We also paid special attention to the neck profile, improving it with a modern C-shape, as well as coupling it to the body with a newly engineered neck joint system for longer sustaining notes. The individual machine heads are another improvement over the original - the results which both you and your audience will appreciate.
Vintage Single Coil PickupsThe single-coil pickups of the 1478 are wound to the same specifications as the originals. We reverse-engineered the old pickups and duplicated the wire, windings, magnets and materials as closely as possible.
Upgraded HardwareThe original 1478 had less-than-modern bridge, tailpiece and tuners. The Reissue has a fully adjustable bridge for accurate intonation, an authentic Bigsby® tremolo tailpiece and smooth individual tuners.
Improved PlayabilityNeck shapes and fret jobs were inconsistent on the original 1478. The Reissue features a comfortable (and consistent) C-shaped neck with a precise and well-finished fret job. The neck also features a two-way truss rod for accurate and dependable adjustment.
More about the Silvertone Classic series:The philosophy behind the Silvertone Classic line is to respect the original vintage designs, while improving on previous manufacturing limitations through modern engineering, parts, craftsmanship and most importantly, the opinions of modern guitar players . In other words, Vintage Vibe for the modern player! We think you'll like the result, plug one in and let us know what you think.

More about Silvertone GuitarsSilvertone was the "musical" brand for the Sears, Roebuck & Company, beginning nearly a century ago. Silvertone guitars appeared in the 1930s, with electric 6-strings appearing in the early '40s. The Fabulous 50's was the decade where Silvertone electric guitars began to hit their stride. The first solid bodies appeared in 1954 and their immediate success was followed up with additional models. More than 25 solid, hollow, and hybrid guitars were introduced, many of them Silvertone classics. The 1960s were the Golden Age for guitars in America. Silvertone guitars were the entry point for countless young musicians. Today, the Silvertone tradition continues with the Silvertone Reissue line: the classic guitars with upgraded features at reasonable prices.
