The sipsi (pronounced [sip'si]) is a single reed instrument used mainly in folk music and native to the Aegean region of Greece and Turkey. In ancient Greece, it was known as kalamavlos (καλάμαυλος).
The sipsi is a very portable instrument only around 19 cm (7.5 inches). It bears five finger holes in the front, and one finger hole in the back.
The sipsi is used by folk artists in the Taurus mountains of Turkey. This particular series is crafted by world famous sipsi maker Huseyin Demir in Burdur, Turkey exclusively for Corsaro Music. Each sipsi is tuned by Master Huseyin before it is shipped. The sipsi has 7 key notes in all major tunes. Choose the note in the variations tab.
