Description
Details:
FingerPress is used to straighten the bent middle joint of the finger, also known as PIP Flexion Contracture, without invasive surgery.
Indications:
A contracture of the PIP joint can be caused by injury, surgery, immobilization, Dupuytren's Contracture, or other causes. Ask your hand therapist or surgeon before using FingerPress if you have arthritis or trigger finger.
Instructions:
We recommend working with a hand therapist. Refer to the product documentation.
1. Hold the device in the unaffected hand
2. Pull the slide all the way back until it swings down with the palm pad to enlarge the opening
3. Insert the affected finger until the PIP joint rests between the two upper pads
4. Swing the slide back up and into place under the fingertip
5. Press the slide forward to apply pressure and set the ratchet at maximum extension
6. Monitor fingertip and relieve pressure if circulation or sensation is lost
7. Free the ratchet by squeezing or tapping the end as shown
Sizing Guide:
Measure the width of the affected PIP joint in millimeters, rounding up. If you do not have calipers, you can measure with a ruler. Choose a size that is slightly wider than your finger.
