Additional applications include ductless mini-splits; older, hard-to-start compressors; areas with low power supply quality; and low-voltage conditions. Because a compressor requires four to 10 times more power at startup than during normal operation—and might start up more than 6,000 times during high demand season— so the kit significantly reduces energy consumption and extends compressor life. It has an electrical rating of ½ to 5 HP and 115 to 288V.
