The Ney is a legendary flute which has been used in traditional ceremonies and hymns by Sufis, yet more recently became popular in many different music genres. Ney is traditionally made from bamboo in different lengths, which determine the Ney's chord. Each different type of Ney is named according to the chord it produces.
Any level player can now enjoy the Turkish Ney, with different tones, robust body for longevity, and the most comfortable experience.
The flared mouthpiece is called Baspare (Bashpare) and it is very unique to the Turkish Ney. It has been traditionally made of ivory, ebony or buffalo horn, however, these days it is more common to use plastic or a similar material.
