KingChain ratchet-type load binders are made from drop-forged steel and are designed for securing loads in chain binding applications on flatbed trucks and rail cars, as well as for cargo holding in the marine industry. Our chain binders are made for heavy duty transport securement, and have the size, break strength, & work load limit clearly marked on the handle for quick identification. Meets U.S. D.O.T. 393.100-393.102 requirements for use with chain. Includes grab hooks at both ends, which swivel 360° for easy attachment. Painted safety yellow for high visibility. Ratchet-type binder tighten more slowly than lever-types, but they are easier to operate and they do not require a handle to lock in place to ensure the binder stays tightened.

This load binder is made for either 3/8" or 1/2" chain*, but must be used with 3/8" Grade 70 Transport Chain in order for your load binding assembly to meet the Grade 70 transport standards for cargo securement set by the US DOT. Do not exceed a work load limit of 9,200 lbs. There are two main grades of chain for tie-down applications: Grade 43 High-Test Chain (G43) & Grade 70 Transport Chain (G70). The 2 measurements marked on this binder indicate which size chain to use to with which grade. The 3/8" specifies that this binder can be used with 3/8" Grade 70 Transport Chain OR it can be used with 1/2" Grade 43 High-Test Chain. If you use this binder with 1/2" Grade 70 Transport Chain, the binder will be weaker than the chain, and therefore your entire assembly will only meet Grade 43 High-Test Chain standards.
