Working with epoxy or polyester resin, and need to create a lightweight fairing compound? TotalBoat Micro Balloons are tiny, hollow glass spheres, and the perfect epoxy filler for this application. This versatile, low-density lightweight resin additive thickens without adding weight. Lightweight fairing compounds are ideal for minor surface repairs, like filling cracks, chips and holes, or shaping and resurfacing. Epoxy thickened with microballoons is easy to sand, shape and paint over upon full cure. Add silica thickener (cabosil) to turn mixed epoxy into a superior all-purpose epoxy putty that won't sag. Microballoons are used for boat repair, automotive fiberglass work, surfboard building and repair, ultralight airplanes and many more applications.
Tips: Always mix a small trial batch of resin and additives to fine tune viscosity, and to assess any impact to epoxy working properties (pot life). When measuring or mixing, first mix resin and hardener, then add micro balloons and any other fillers or bulking agents. Then mix, always stirring from the bottom to the top. Always wear proper safety protection when working with epoxy resin and fillers / additives. Be sure to wash your hands and any exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water afterwards. Compare to West System 407 and 410 fillers, Fibre Glast, Fasco, and others. All TotalBoat products are formulated for great results and great value. When it comes to epoxy, we know what works.
