Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) is an annual herb. The root is rod, branched. The flowers are large, single, same-sex, yellow or orange. Pumpkin is usually pollinated by bees. Flowering period is from June to July. The fruit is a large, smooth, fleshy pumpkin, spherical or oval in shape, with numerous seeds, covered with a hard crust. The fruits ripen in August - September.
