Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) has a short rhizome, thin roots, long creeping mustache shoots and an upright flowering stalk. Leaves are green/dark green on top, grayish- below. The rhizome is brown in color, horizontal or oblique, thick, short. Additional roots and rosettes of leaves with long shoots (mustache) extend from the rhizome. The flowers are white, up to 2 cm in diameter. The plant blooms in May - June. Fruits are numerous nuts, submerged in the overgrown fleshy, bright red receptacle, forming the so-called berry. The fruits ripen in June - July.
