Hordeum vulgare is a grassy annual plant, a species of the genus Hordeum, belonging to the family of Poaceae. There are up to 30 species in the genus, including wild plants. Barley reaches a height of 40-90 cm, depending on the variety. The stems of the plant have well-developed nodes and hollow internodes, branching from the root itself - in the branching node. The leaves are flat, regular, consist of a linear, narrow plate. Сereal blooms in June-July. The fruit of barley is a caryopsis. The plant begins to bear fruit in late July - August.
