Lockout Slide Valves allow air to flow downstream to the equipment when in the open position and shuts off air from the compressor when in the closed position. Air trapped in the load side is then bled off to atmosphere, preventing the equipment from cycling even though the line is "shut off". These valves can be locked in the "closed" position to prevent accidental start-up while equipment is being worked on, which can injure personnel.
