Durga meaning is the most popular incarnation of Devi. Durga is Adi-Parashakti herself. The Devi Gita, declares her to be the greatest Goddess. According to Skanda Purana, the goddess Parvati accounted the name "Durga" after she killed the demon Durgamaasura.
