Jesus washing His disciple's feet is a significant action in the narrative. It is considered an act of humility and service, demonstrating that no one is greater or lesser in His kingdom. Despite being their Master and Lord, Jesus put Himself in the position of a servant, which at that time, was a role of the lowest servants. Jesus also stated that his act was an example for others to follow. He wanted His disciples to understand the importance of serving each other, showing humility, and loving each other unconditionally. This act is still commemorated in some Christian denominations today in a ceremony often called "foot washing" or "Maundy Thursday". It underscores Jesus' message "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you".
