GR style carbide-tipped brazed tool bits have a right hand cutting direction and a 0° side cutting angle for offset turning, facing or turning to a square shoulder, and boring. The GR style tool is offset, which allows its side cutting edge to be used close to the jaws of the chuck on a lathe or boring mill application. The tool has a positive, 6° rake angle that provides a sharp edge for making continuous cuts and a right-hand cutting direction for right-to-left feed. Tools with a C-5 carbide grade are for roughing and heavy machining of steel and steel alloys. Tools with C-6 carbide grade are for general purpose machining of steel and steel alloys. C-2 carbide grade tools are for general-purpose machining of cast iron and non-ferrous materials. The square shank fits square tool holders.
