More of a disclaimer: Pay attention to the description. You need to add sandpaper to these, they are not “buffing” pads. They are a buffer between your sander and the sanding paper.
1. These pads stick right to the sander and the sanding disc sticks to the cushion. They provide enough cushion to perfectly sand a rounded or curved edge or leg.
2. These pads stick well to the velcro on the sander, and the paper adheres well to the buffer pad. The pad adds a lighter pressure when sanding uneven or softer surfaces without blocking the vacuum ports.
3. The buffer pads work just as one would expect - they offer an intermediate padding between the tool and the attached gritted sanding or buffing pad. This allows the pad to better glide over uneven surfaces while remaining in contact.
4. The soft malleability of the pads help prevent gouging or digging into the sanding surface. They hold up well to use as long as you stay away from corners and edges. If you use these too often on hard edges, they will become uneven and can have a tendency to keep the sander from spinning. If used properly with frequent changing of the sanding discs, you should not need to replace them too often.
5. The foam is soft and not up to having the pad or sanding paper removed multiple times. Stick it once and leave it stuck. Try not to change your sanding discs unless absolutely necessary. If you do have to remove the pad or the sanding discs, part the edge of the disc from the pad gently and then work the two apart by sliding your fingers between the two to separate them. The objective here is to minimize any stress on the glue holding the hook/loop to the foam. Grabbing the edge of the disc and pulling without pinning the interface pad down with the other hand will definitely shorten the life span of the pad.
When you treat the pads as though they are fragile, they work very well and the results on single stage urethane paint is smooth, clean and orange-peel free and you can reduce the risk of cut through on panel edges, contours and body lines.
