Description

The Greek god Hermes is typically depicted as a handsome and athletic young man, wearing a winged cap called a Petasos and winged sandals called Talaria. He carries a long staff called a Caduceus which has two snakes entwined around it, symbolizing his role as the messenger of the gods. In art, Hermes is often portrayed in motion, appearing agile and ready to deliver a message or fulfill his other various duties. His attire can also include a short cloak known as a chlamys which allows him to move freely. Hermes is known as the god of travel, trade, diplomacy, communication, and thievery, making him a key figure in Greek mythology.
