Description:Sometimes you find a 12C bus controller on one side and a 12C bus device on the other, and you have to separate them (electrically). Maybe because one of them is grounded, maybe because you have some snazzy power monitoring device, maybe you want to reduce the noise. Whatever it is, you can use the IS01540 bidirectional 12C isolator to add complete electrical isolation between the two ends of the 12C bus. The chip we used, TIISO1540, is fully bidirectional, supports clock rates up to 1MHz, supports clock stretching, operates on 3 to 5V DC power or logic (separated on both sides of course), and has 2500V-RMS isolation. Use is easy - you get power/ground/clock/data break pads for each side as well as a matching STEMMAQT connector. Unlike our other QT boards, the sides are obviously electrically isolated, which means each half has to be powered! Check that the green LED lights up, now send data through 12C, and you're ready to start. From the 12C pin to the corresponding VCC we have 10K pull-outs on each side.To make you go faster, we rotated a custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor to make it easy to interface. The STEMMAQT connectors on both sides are compatible with the SparkFun Qwiic12C connector. This allows you to make a solderless connection between the development board and the IS01540, or connect it to a wide range of other sensors and accessories using compatible cables.
