Pulley Cup: The Cup is made of metal and fixed to the flywheel. When the handle on the recoil starter is pulled, the attached rope with the assistance of internal spring causes the recoil assembly to rotate. When this happens, tabs on the inside of the recoil catch the notches on the inside of an internal cup and crank over the engine.
