There are three different lookout points to view the best-preserved and first-proven meteorite impact site is nearly a mile across, 2.3 miles in circumference and over 550 feet deep, as tall as a 60-story building. The topographical terrain of Meteor Crater so closely resembles that of the Earth's Moon and other planets, NASA designated it as an official training site for the Apollo Astronauts and it has been the setting for the movie "Star Man." One reel is devoted to Meteor Crater and the other 2 reels show the beauty and splendor of the surrounding northern Arizona region.
