Your engine's rod bolts are subjected to amazing stresses as they support the primary tension loads caused by each rotation of the crankshaft. With alternating tension loads and cyclic bending of the bolts, fasteners that aren't up to the task can break and cause catastrophic engine failure. That is why it is very important to install high quality fasteners that are able to exert a clamping force greater than the load imposed upon the joint. ARP has you covered with rod bolts that are substantially better than the stock OEM and most aftermarket bolts. These Pro Series Wave-Loc connecting rod bolts are designed for the most severe applications, in conjunction with aftermarket I-beam rods. They are manufactured from a special hybrid-alloy called APR2000 which has approximately 200% the fatigue life of 8740 chrome moly steel, has a tensile strength of about 220,000 psi, and is capable of more than 12,000 pounds clamping force. Another special feature is the exclusive Wave-Loc technology where forged waves, not common cut knurls, are used. The bolts still fit snugly, but without the sharp edges and enormous "stress risers" that promote failure in knurled bolts. This complete set was specially designed for select Buick applications (90 degree cap screw type, 1.700" UHL, with "E" head style) and select Pontiac applications (3800 w/ 1.700 UHL, cap screw type, with "E" head style).
