While the keypad/proximity reader itself installs outside the door, its computing controller installs inside (connected to the keypad by wiring through the wall), thereby preventing potential intruders from tampering with the controller. All settings are safely protected indoors. And the keypad remains easy to use. To unlock your door, simply enter your code or wave an authorized proximity card/tag (sold separately) within 1-1/2 inches of the keypad. The keypad surface-mounts to a wall with the included single-gang back box and screws. The controller surface-mounts on the other side of the wall with the included screws, and uses a simple 3-wire connection through the wall to the keypad. Settings are programmed through keypad.
