It uses two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, one aspherical, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, and one Super ED element paired with Nano Anti-Reflective coating II that dramatically reduce chromatic aberration, flare, and ghosting to produce high-contrast, high-resolution to deliver images with corner-to-corner sharpness. This lens also produces gorgeous bokeh with precision focus performance and is suitable for astrophotography, architecture, landscape, and even portraits and movie filming.

The Sony FE 14mm f1.8 G Master Lens is compatible with APS-C as well as full-frame cameras. It offers a wide focal length of 21mm (full-frame format equivalent) and balances well on smaller APS-C format camera bodies.
Two XA (Extreme Aspherical) Lens Elements
This G Master Lens' design incorporates two extremely precise XA (extreme aspherical) elements and one Aspherical element to achieve stunning resolution throughout the image area while delivering smooth, creamy bokeh in out-of-focus areas. The XA elements also compensate for coma, field curvature, and astigmatism - common issues for wide-angle lenses with large-aperture. They also correct the Sagittal coma flare, making this lens ideal for capturing stars in the night sky.
