BJC Silver Plated Stereo Audio Cable, 3 ft
Many of our customers ask about silver or silver-plated conductors as an alternative to copper. While we're partial to copper for various reasons, there are those who prefer silver, and this cable is for them: silver-plated copper conductors, with our usual high-quality Canare RCA plugs. Like most of what we sell, these cables are assembled in the USA at our Seattle shop.
The Cable: Belden 734D2
The cable stock in these stereo pairs is Belden 734D2. This was originally developed as a DS3/DS4 digital coaxial audio cable for multiplexed telephone systems, but its attributes are excellent for unbalanced analog audio as well; coaxial geometry is best for unbalanced audio, where noise rejection is a function of shield effectiveness alone rather than common-mode noise rejection. It offers low capacitance (16.8 pF/ft) and excellent braid-over-foil shielding, and has a 20 AWG silver-plated copper center conductor.
The Connectors: Canare RCAPs
We use Canare crimp-style RCA plugs on this cable; these have gold-plated contacts on both the pin and the ground side, and employ a unique circular spring ground contact to allow a very firm and definite engagement with the jack, but one which disengages easily and without any risk of jack damage from over-tightness.
Blue Jeans Cable: Professional Cable Assembly
We assemble these audio pairs in our Seattle shop, using precision stripping and crimping equipment for high-quality termination. Blue Jeans Cable has been assembling audio and video cable for the stereo and home theater market since 2002, always using the best broadcast-quality parts and assembly practices.
