While hiking from my adopted hometown of Crested Butte to Aspen, we were passing the famous Maroon Bells and I had an idea (because my back began to ache). I wanted to drop some weight in my backpack and my first inclination was to get rid of my old, but trusted, sleeping bag. A down blanket that weighed just a fraction of the sleeping bag was the only way to go. Hence, our Orion Outpost Trading Company "Maroon Bells" camping blanket was born.

Use it down to what temperature? That's a tough question. We rate it between 45-55°F and above. Why the wide range? We realized everyone has a different threshold to cold conditions. Personally, I have used it down to 50°F, but any colder and I'm miserable. My buddy has used it down into the low 40's and he sleeps like a baby. My nieces can barely handle the mid 50's.
