The U.S. Postal Service honors the famous show with a pane of 16 Forever stamps. It first aired Nov. 10, 1969, providing educational programming and entertainment unlike any other children's television show. Initially broadcast on more than 180 stations, the program introduced audiences to human characters, often children themselves, who interacted with the puppets. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamps. Arranged in horizontal rows, the stamps showcase 16 of the characters that appear on the show. Images of nine of the characters appear on the right side of the pane underneath the iconic sign. The back of the pane displays the 50th anniversary artwork. An 8-foot-tall, bright yellow canary became an iconic face of the series in the last 50 years. The stamps are being issued as Forever stamps. Forever stamps are always equal to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price. This listings is for ONE sheet of 16 stamps.
