What are Meitou Paper Knives?
Meitou(famous swords) Paper Knives are replica swords in the shape of a paper knife made by master craftsmen of swords in Seki-city in Gifu, JAPAN. It sold over $100000 on crowdfunding in Japan called Makuake.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration, these “Shinsengumi” model knives based on the swords owned by Shinsengumi members were released.
These paper knives are beautifully designed and blades are exquisitely handcrafted by skilled sword craftsmen. The cutting blades of the knives, which are carefully sharpened one by one, are very sharp and slice through your letters with ease.
To make the blade sharper and harder, hardening is carried out during the heat treating process.
Hijikata Toshizo Model: Hijikata: He was the vice-commander of Shinsengumi. His favorite sword “Izuminokami Kanesada” is this paper knife's motif.
Its hamon(temper pattern of a sword blade), sword guard and sheath are exquisitely made by skilled craftsmen.
Its dignified pure Japanese style attire of this knife is reminiscent of Hijikata Toshizo.
