How to replace steering rack boot?
1. First of all, you need to locate the rack and pinion bellow, which is usually located underneath the steering wheel, where it connects to the steering column and steering gear
2. Before removing it, it's a good idea to take photos or videos so that it can be restored correctly when installing the new dust cover. Also, make sure you place the vehicle on a flat surface and tighten the handbrake
3. Next, the steering wheel needs to be removed. This usually involves unscrewing the safety bolts using a wrench. The steering wheel can then be removed
4. Once the steering wheel is removed, you can see the dust cover for the steering wheel. This part is usually made of plastic and can be removed by pulling down. If it is stuck, try gently pushing it in one direction until it can move freely
5. Once the old dust cover is removed, the new one can be installed. Slide the new dust cover over the steering column, which can be secured using tie wraps and clamps
6. Once the new dust cover is secured, begin reassembling the vehicle. First, return the steering wheel to its original position and tighten the security bolts with a wrench. Then, return the vehicle to its original position and check that all connections are secure
7. Finally, start the vehicle and test the steering system. If any problems are found, further inspection and repair may be required
